Wednesday, Apr 15: Siena Discos

I woke up and remembered that we came to Siena to see a Eucharistic Miracle. In 1730, some consecrated hosts were stolen because they were in a gold box. The thieves returned the hosts in a church poor box. Since then, the hosts have remained as fresh as the day they were returned. We walked to St. Francis Church to see them. It was another large stone church with zebra stripes inside. I had tried to find out info online, but there wasn't much. We found out there that the hosts are taken out for veneration on Thursdays and every 17th day of the month. We were a day or 2 early. :-(

Deb stayed back to avoid more hill walking. We weren't sure where we were meeting her, so we walked to the San Domenico Plaza, the Duomo and found her at Il Campo. She and Allen went inside the Duomo while Todd and I shopped a little and had lunch at a disco/pizzeria. Try to digest while hearing this:

Everywhere we went we heard American music, mostly disco. It got annoying. I ate spinach pizza, Mom. Cooked spinach, even on pizza, is gross. Then we sat under the Tuscan sun to work on our farmer tans at Il Campo.

I'll give you one more song we heard when we turned on the radio while driving. We turned it off when we discovered every channel had similar stuff.

It was time to pack up the car and head to Oriveto.
